Please stick to the riding guide lines set by G.W.O.C.G.B. this is for your safety and the safety of other riders and road users. |
| SAFETY AT ALL TIMES !!! It is ‘Every riders’ responsibility to ride with due regards for other riders in the group, as well as other road users. It is good practice for the lead rider to set and then stick to the pace at all times. Slowing down or stopping with the intention of waiting for back markers only creates a hazard to other road users, and the rest of the group. Obey the staggered riding principal at all times (It is also good practice to pull alongside and double up whilst waiting at lights, junctions etc.) It is the responsibility of the rider to ensure at all times that they do not tailgate the rider in front. Every rider whilst riding in a group effectively plays ‘Follow my leader’ and if when those in front turn off the road (or exit from a roundabout etc) and you cannot see the rider behind you, it is your responsibility to stop and wait (in a safe place and in view!) until you are sure the next rider has seen you, then pull away and rejoin the others by following the rest of these guide lines. It also follows that if you arrive at a junction etc. and no one is waiting you should assume the rest have gone straight on (or followed the main route). On a ride out no-one wants to get lost or left behind not knowing which direction to take if they cannot see the rider in front and obviously the organizers do not want this to happen either. If everyone follows these guidelines it won’t happen. The purpose is surely to have fun and enjoy yourselves, but all riders should accept the FACT that whilst riding and obeying the laws of the land on a run out in a group, they are very likely to get left behind at a set of lights or a roundabout. In all these and any other circumstances, following these guidelines will allow everyone to catch up with the rest, Even if it takes all day, you WILL catch them up. Safe Riding |
