If there are members who have not booked for the weekend fraternization. Now is the time!! Pleas remind your member that these rates can be used all year even when traveling in a Car or camper. | THANKS TO GRAHAM FOR THIS INFORMATION This may be of interest to trike owners We are travelling with a bike and a trike to France I contacted Norfolk Line as their web site was down and not able to book on line. I tried to book the trike as a motorcycle and side car, I was told that if the if any axles are in line (unless a Trailer) then the vehicle is classed as a 3 wheel car. He then explained that he had just passed his bike test and wanted to ride a bike but could not as you now need a car licence to ride a trike. I took his advice and found that on this route without the offer code a bike is twice the price of a car. I wonder if other ferry operators will take the same view if we just book the trike's as a cars. On checking a few other routes and booking a standard fare booked at least 28 day prior to departure a car is cheaper then a bike with side car or trailer. I also go to Ireland quite a bit and I can usually get a good discount for the car making the price the same as the bike but you can never get decent offers for bike's with trailer or side cars. If the trike owners book as a car they may save quite a bit, it goes without saying if the drop down box does have a section for trike's then book a trike. Quote from the direct.gov site information on trike law "Ministers decided to implement the proposal, which affected very few motorcyclists as over 90% held a full car licence (which continues to give full sub-category B1 entitlement). Nor did it affect anybody already holding a full motorcycle licence, who retained full B1 entitlement. The changes were implemented during October 2000. What the above did mean though is that if you didn't have a full car or bike licence before October 2000 and wish to either trike your bike or buy one you will now have to apply for a provisional car licence and if you wish to carry passengers then pass the test.
